Job summary

Polk County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Fleet Technician III to maintain and repair diesel- and gasoline-powered on- and off-highway vehicles. The role covers diagnosis, repair, and overhaul with opportunity for progression through the career ladder, including journeyman-level work and occasional supervision.

The position is based at 2470 Clower Lane, Bartow, FL 33831, with full-time hours and a benefits package including health, retirement, paid time off, and education incentives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school/trade school or equivalent diploma.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Five years of repair experience with three years as a Journeyman.
• ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled journeyman-level mechanical work including diagnosis, repair and overhaul of vehicles and equipment.
• Troubleshoots, disassembles, repairs and reassembles components; performs preventive maintenance.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment; operates shop equipment.
• Performs shop and field repairs and emergency road service outside hours when required.
• Maintains records, keeps a clean work area, may supervise others.
• Performs related duties as required.
