Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the Fleet Safety program for our Private Fleet, aligning with Fleet Directors and HR to ensure DOT, OSHA, EPA compliance and internal policies.

You will mentor Safety Managers, develop SOPs, monitor safety performance, and drive continuous improvements while fostering a strong culture of safety. Willingness to travel 50% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or logistics preferred with at least 6 years relevant work experience.
• 6+ years of Transportation Industry Safety experience required.
• Experience in managing and leading others required.
• Ability to evaluate potential safety hazards and collaborate to minimize risk.
• Working knowledge of federal, state and company safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Fleet Network’s terminal and operational leadership in FMCSA safety requirements.
• Develops and implements SOPs, safety regulations and guidelines with Training, Safety, and Operations.
• Champions adherence to SOPs and identifies safety and process improvements.
• Promotes safety culture by evaluating safety performance and addressing concerns.
• Benchmarks with industry peers and explores technology to improve safety processes.
• Redesigns supervisory development by selecting mentors and monitoring progress.
• Trains Managers in employee evaluation and leadership development.
