Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking a Mechanic 2 in Tampa, FL, to perform intermediate to advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on trailers, diesel, and gasoline-powered vehicles and plant equipment.

This role builds on Mechanic 1 duties and supports fleet reliability. The position requires repair manual interpretation, experience with diesel/gas engines, OEM diagnostics tools, and basic leadership to mentor Mechanic 1.

Qualifications

Interprets repair manuals to properly repair equipment.
Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, electrical systems, transmission and hydraulic systems.
Uses diagnostics software and scan tools to identify issues.
Maintains service records and work orders in fleet systems.
Responds to roadside service calls when required.
Ensures safety and follows company rules.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair fleet vehicles and plant equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
Inspect and replace belts, hoses, batteries, and lights.
Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues using diagnostic tools.
Document work performed and parts used in logs or fleet software.
Mentor Mechanic 1 as needed and ensure compliance with safety rules.
