Job summary

Discovery Senior Living seeks a Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets to manage the fixed asset lifecycle across 450 communities. You’ll maintain the Yardi 8 subledger, oversee capitalization, depreciation, and asset transfers, ensuring GAAP compliance and policy alignment.

You will collaborate with Shared Services and leadership, prepare schedules for close and audits, and leverage Excel for analysis and reporting. Remote start with onsite three days weekly in Dallas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience with fixed assets or property accounting preferred.
• Experience with Yardi 8 fixed asset modules or similar platform required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including fixed asset rollforward models and multi-entity reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP capitalization standards, depreciation methods, and ASC 360 (Property, Plant & Equipment).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger within Yardi 8 for all DSL entities and community properties.
• Record asset additions, disposals, transfers, write-offs, and impairments accurately and timely.
• Record and monitor construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts and transfer to placed-in-service assets.
• Prepare and post monthly depreciation journal entries across all DSL entities.
• Prepare fixed asset rollforward schedules, depreciation schedules, and reconciliation workpapers for close and audits.
