Job summary

The City of Leander operates an Active Adult Program focused at the Senior Activity Center. The ideal candidate will plan, schedule, and lead diverse fitness classes for adults 55+.

Responsibilities include front desk coverage, event support, room setup, and assisting with registrations to ensure a welcoming participant experience. Required is an Associate degree or higher in a related field or a HS diploma with 4+ years of experience; First Aid/CPR, and a Group Fitness or CPT certification.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Exercise or Sports Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adults in a fitness or recreation setting.
  • First Aid + CPR/AED certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Group Fitness or Personal Training certification from ACE, ISSA, NASM, ACSM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a diverse range of fitness programs tailored to the senior population.
  • Plans, schedules, and teaches a variety of fitness classes (strength, yoga, Pilates, drumming, dance, HIIT, aquatic fitness, balance, mobility).
  • Monitors participant safety and modifies exercises for varying ability levels.
  • Assists with front desk operations, registration, and general inquiries.
  • Manages room setup/breakdown for fitness programs and events.
  • Promotes programs via flyers, calendars, and outreach materials.
  • Responds to emergencies and provides first aid/CPR/AED as needed.
