Job summary

The City of Alexandria, VA is seeking a Temporary Recreation Leader III – Group Fitness Instructor to deliver structured wellness programs for older adults. You will lead classes, assist with participant evaluations, and maintain a safe, inclusive environment within RPCA facilities.

Ideal candidates hold a nationally recognized fitness certification, demonstrate strong communication and leadership, and will obtain an evidence-based program certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of related experience or equivalent.
• First Aid certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Nationally recognized group fitness or wellness certification required.
• Willing to obtain certification in an evidence-based program within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, research-based fitness classes for older adults.
• Assist with participant evaluations and maintain safety and inclusivity.
• Work with City staff and department resources for program success.
• Expand access to high-quality wellness programming for Alexandria’s senior community.
