Job summary

Beta Bionics, Inc. in Irvine, CA, seeks an experienced Staff Software Test Engineer to join our pump firmware automation test team.

You will shape the future of our mobile apps and pump firmware, owning test activities from planning to execution and building out our automation framework. This role requires 10+ years in firmware testing, 15+ years in related fields, with hands-on automated/manual testing, Appium/XCUITest/UIAutomator, Bluetooth LE, RESTful APIs, and cloud/mobile integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• 10+ years experience in firmware testing, preferably in medical devices.
• 15+ years overall in related fields.
• Experience in integration and system testing between cloud and mobile apps.
• Strong automated and manual testing expertise with testing frameworks/tools.
• Experience using Appium, XCUITest, UIAutomator.
• Experience with Page Object Model pattern.
• Experience testing Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services integration.
• Experience with code analysis and unit testing.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; agile capable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans for firmware, automated and manual testing.
• Enhance and maintain the automation framework and test creation/execution.
• Document defects with details; participate in dry and formal test runs.
• Collaborate with development to resolve issues and ensure timely delivery.
• Attend scrums and planning meetings; provide input on test activities.
• Ensure traceability from requirements to tests and risk assessments.
• Interact with hardware (breadboards, benchtop tools) and flash firmware.
