10 years of professional experience in embedded firmware development.

About the Role

Igor Institute is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll lead firmware development across a variety of projects and industries, working closely with clients and cross-disciplinary teams to bring connected products to life.

This is a hands-on engineer role focused on architecting, developing, and delivering firmware solutions that meet the technical requirements of the client and their product. The ideal candidate brings a mix of deep technical expertise, excellent collaboration skills, and a track record of success in embedded systems.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and implement firmware for embedded systems
Develop across the stack, from low-level drivers to application logic
Collaborate on hardware design and system-level architecture
Communicate effectively with clients and teammates across disciplines, companies, and skill levels
Participate in project scoping, planning, and estimation
Deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget
Represent Igor Institute with professionalism, integrity, and technical authority
Build and maintain strong client relationships
Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts on site at ODM facilities
Meet and exceed client and partner expectations
Support business growth through technical outreach and networking

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
10 years of professional experience in embedded firmware development
Proficiency in C and/or C++ in bare metal, RTOS, and Linux environments
Strong software design skills and deep understanding of embedded system architecture
Experience with relevant technologies, such as wireless technologies, ARM processor cores, hardware debug, small footprint software design, ultra low power systems
Familiarity with consumer electronics design, development, engineering, and manufacturing processes

Preferred Experience

Firmware development with embedded operating systems, such as Linux or Android
Experience writing OS-level drivers
Development of internal tools for hardware testing and integration
Mobile apps on iOS or Android
