Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in senior security or network security engineering.
• Preferred CISSP, CCNA, CCNP Security, CCSA/CCSE, CySA+ or equivalent.
• Experience with firewall design, segmentation and compliance.
• Ability to pursue relevant certifications.

Responsibilities

• Firewall Architecture, Administration & Operations: deploy, configure, maintain enterprise firewalls with rule bases, NAT, clustering and failover.
• Day-to-day firewall operations: rule reviews, access requests, log analysis, troubleshooting, optimization.
• Monitor firewall performance, availability and security posture.
• Upgrade, patches, backups, and lifecycle management of firewall systems.
• Audit rules and configurations to maintain compliance and reduce risk.
• Assist in network segmentation design and micro-segmentation strategies.
• Collaborate with networking teams to support secure connectivity for city programs.
• Monitor security alerts, incidents and vulnerabilities; support remediation.
• Participate in incident response activities for network perimeter events.
• Provide guidance and training on secure firewall practices to IT staff.
• Coordinate with vendors on firewall-related deployments; evaluate tools.
