Job summary

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. in Nashville seeks a senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead enterprise fire protection, disaster prevention, and machine safety programs across manufacturing, logistics, retail, and corporate operations.

You will establish standards, manage risk assessments and audits, ensure regulatory compliance, support system design, and drive continuous improvement through training, governance, and KPI tracking.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Fire Protection) or equivalent; 8+ years of applicable experience.
• MS in Engineering with 6+ years of applicable experience (sprinkler design engineer or insurer field engineer).
• PE or other related certifications required.
• Knowledge and experience of NFPA, OSHA, and FM related standards.
• H&S European Regulatory framework for Equipment related Directives.
• Ability to travel 40-60% and audit techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection specifications for manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations.
• Lead Disaster Prevention Governance Committee and act as fire protection SME.
• Review third party reports and comment; assist locations with resolutions.
• Design fire detection, alarm, and extinguishing systems and equipment.
• Inspect locations/designs to determine system requirements and potential problems.
• Advise architects and engineers on fire protection standards during design phases.
• Prepare reports detailing fire prevention issues and review schedules.
• Assist in fire investigations and determine root causes and preventive measures.
• Direct procurement, modification, installation, and maintenance of protection systems.
• Consult with authorities on safety regulations and local jurisdictional matters.
• Represent the company with AHJ in defining compliance.
• Attend workshops and training to stay current; develop training materials.
• Evaluate fire department performance and regulatory impacts on fire safety.
• Collaborate with Central Engineering on standards and documents.
