Job summary

Northstar Fire Protection of Texas, Inc. in San Antonio, TX seeks an experienced Fire Protection Plan Reviewer to ensure fire sprinkler design deliverables meet codes, standards, and project requirements.

The role focuses on technical reviews, constructability, and quality control across projects. Responsibilities include verifying submittals, hydraulics, layouts, and fabrication docs, while guiding designers to resolve deficiencies and uphold design quality.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent in Fire Protection, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 7+ years of fire sprinkler design experience.
• Extensive knowledge of NFPA codes, fire sprinkler system design, hydraulic calculations, and industry standards.
• NICET Level III or IV certification preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK, or other fire protection design software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to review and interpret submittals.

Responsibilities

• Review fire sprinkler submittal packages for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with NFPA standards and contract requirements.
• Review and validate hydraulic calculations to ensure performance and code compliance.
• Verify sprinkler layouts, piping arrangements, seismic bracing, hanger locations, and installation details for accuracy.
• Review field installation prints to confirm consistency with approved drawings and project standards.
• Provide clear review comments and collaborate with designers to resolve deficiencies.
