Job summary

HGI is seeking Fire Protection Engineers to own complex, high-impact projects and mentor a growing team. You will apply expertise in fire alarm, sprinkler, and smoke control design to meet NFPA and ICC codes across diverse facilities.

This focused, remote-friendly firm emphasizes collaboration. You will interface with clients and authorities having jurisdiction, guide junior engineers, and oversee multiple projects from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License in Fire Protection preferred.
• 5–15 years of experience in fire protection engineering, focusing on complex system design.
• Experience on high-stakes projects across manufacturing, healthcare, commercial, data centers, warehousing, or industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection engineering tasks from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with project goals and safety regulations.
• Develop and oversee system designs, including fire alarms, sprinklers, smoke control, and fire-rated assemblies.
• Perform fire hazard analyses and risk assessments to guide design decisions.
• Collaborate with clients and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC, and local fire codes.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate fire protection into building designs.
• Mentor junior engineers on design practices, codes, and career development.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to troubleshoot systems.
• Support development of new methods and research in fire protection engineering.
