Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) in Piketon, OH is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer III to support the site-wide fire protection program. You will analyze buildings and systems, design or recommend fire prevention and suppression measures, and support management on fire safety initiatives.

Typically requiring a BA and 5–7 years of experience, the role may involve leading tasks and coordinating with multiple teams. DOE L clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering with up to 3 years of fire protection experience or equivalent
• Experience with piping/mechanical systems, building construction, or control/alarm systems is a plus
• Typical experience ranges from 0 to 3 years for some roles. Must be able to obtain a DOE L clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes buildings, transportation systems, and materials for potential fire hazards and designs fire prevention and suppression systems.
• Researches causes of fires and determines fire protection methods and materials/equipment to safeguard life and property.
• May act as a lead and handle complex issues with support from higher-level staff.
