Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer III for on-site work in Piketon, OH. The role involves analyzing hazards, designing prevention and suppression systems, and supporting the site-wide fire protection program.

May lead projects and requires a BA with 5–7 years of relevant experience or equivalent. Candidate must be able to obtain a DOE L clearance; typical experience ranges from 0 to 7 years depending on education and background.

AFO is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer III to work in Piketon, OH.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for various elements of support and provides fire protection engineering support as needed to implement the site wide fire protection program. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one of or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
• Analyzes buildings, transportation systems, and materials for potential fire hazards and design fire prevention and suppression systems.
• Research causes of fires, determine fire protection methods, and design or recommend materials or equipment such as structural components or fire-detection equipment to assist organizations in safeguarding life and property against fire, explosion, and related hazard. Performs work under minimal supervision.
• Handles complex issues and problems, refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
• May act as a lead.
• Typically requires BA and 5-7 years.
