  • Lead the engineering design of fire protection and life safety systems for new construction, expansions, retrofits, and upgrades in major industrial and semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed engineering deliverables, including design narratives, code analyses, hydraulic calculations, system layouts, equipment selections, piping plans, riser diagrams, sequences of operation, and technical specifications.
  • Develop construction-ready fire protection engineering drawings and coordinated design documents using applicable drafting and modeling platforms.
  • Design and specify fire sprinkler, water spray, clean agent, foam, special hazard suppression, smoke management, and gas detection interfaces as required by facility risks and operational‑needs.
  • Apply and interpret applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, including NFPA standards, building and fire codes, insurance requirements, and semiconductor facility protection criteria.
  • Perform hazard assessments, risk evaluations, and fire protection engineering studies for cleanrooms, process tools, hazardous materials storage and use areas, utility spaces, and support buildings.
  • Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems into complex facility designs.
  • Manage fire protection engineering staff and design team members, including planning workloads, assigning tasks, setting priorities, reviewing deliverables, and supporting technical development and performance of the team.
  • Manage and coordinate sub‑consultants and external design partners to ensure scope, schedule, quality, and technical integration requirements are achieved across the project.
  • Maintain accountability for fire protection engineering scope, budget, and schedule performance, including resource planning, progress tracking, forecasting, and timely delivery of quality design deliverables in alignment with project objectives.
  • Review equipment layouts, process utility information, and vendor data to confirm fire protection requirements are fully incorporated into the design.
  • Provide technical leadership for system selection, design basis development, and resolution of complex fire protection challenges associated with high‑value manufacturing environments.
  • Support development of permitting and approval packages, and interface with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, insurers, and third‑party reviewers to obtain design acceptance.
  • Review contractor and vendor submittals, shop drawings, material substitutions, and requests for information for technical compliance with the design intent and project requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOP or similar risk review processes, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Provide field engineering support during procurement, installation, testing, and startup, including site observations, punch list support, and resolution of design‑related issues.
  • Support system commissioning, integrated systems testing, and turnover activities to verify fire protection systems perform as intended.
  • Document design assumptions, deviations, decisions, and engineering recommendations in a clear and traceable manner.
  • Support proposal development and business development activities, including preparing technical scope descriptions, staffing plans, level‑of‑effort estimates, fee inputs, and client presentation materials for new opportunities and follow-on work.
  • Promote continuous improvement in engineering standards, design practices, and lessons learned across industrial and semiconductor projects.
