National A&E firm needs a Sr. Fire Protection Engineer, P.E for their Orlando, FL office.
Individuals will perform engineering calculations and must be able to layout and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, and codes. They should apply practical knowledge and experience to resolve project-related problems and conflicts. Independent decision-making for engineering tasks is required. Supervision of subordinate personnel or assistance to other engineers/designers may occur. Knowledge of discipline-specific codes and building codes is essential. Must be versed in fire code consulting services, fire sprinkler design, fire alarm and detection system design, and smoke control system design.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and good leadership skills to educate clients on design and project requirements. Collaborate with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, and site issues. Prepare design budgets and schedules, estimate man-hours required, and provide leadership to designated designers.
Review preliminary and final engineering designs with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection. Perform a final review of the engineering drawings and maintain client contact.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of work experience and a licensed engineer.
Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer. Mentor and motivate Engineering designers. Set high standards, maintain professional integrity, and seek the best interest of the company and client. Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while ensuring quality design.
