The Senior Fire Protection Engineer in the Walt Disney Imagineering Design + Planning organization provides expertise in fire protection, life safety, building and fire codes, fire hazard assessment, and related safety issues. The role involves supporting projects through engineering design, analysis, and coordination within the WDI D+P Engineering Studio.

What You Will Do

1. Design, analyze, and specify fire protection systems for complex site/area development projects.
2. Develop fire protection engineering strategies and prepare procurement documents.
3. Supervise work progress, ensuring quality, coordination, and schedule adherence.
4. Obtain necessary approvals from building and fire departments.
5. Respond to construction bid questions and resolve field issues.
6. Potentially serve as Engineer of Record.
7. Prepare design reports and analyses for construction documents.
8. Provide technical guidance to in-house engineers and designers.
9. Lead a team of fire protection engineers and designers through project phases.
10. Coordinate with external fire protection engineering consultants.
11. Support commissioning activities during pre-test and AHJ testing phases.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Professional Engineer License (P.E.) with exam pass.
• Strong understanding of Building & Fire Codes, NFPA Standards, and FM Global data sheets.
• 7+ years of experience in fire protection system design or consulting.
• Willingness to travel for project support, possibly for extended periods.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with theme parks, resort hotels, or mixed-use facilities.
• Knowledge of OSHA compliance.
• Experience with fire and smoke modeling tools.
• Involvement in codes and standards development.
• Experience with fire testing and applying fire test methods to building materials.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field, with a Master's preferred.

The salary range in California is $113,800 - $152,500 annually, with potential bonuses and incentives. Compensation varies based on experience, location, and other factors.
