Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Fire Protection Engineering license by examination in any state.
  • 10+ years of experience in fire protection, consulting engineering and project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work on a high-functioning team.
  • Willingness to travel (estimated 20%).

The Authority & Autonomy

You step into a core technical role serving as a key life-safety expert for external and internal clients. You will manage day-to-day client contacts, perform building and fire code analysis, and design new fire protection systems—including suppression, fire detection, alarm, and mass notification systems—while conducting research, peer reviews, and participating in leading industry organizations like SFPE and NFPA.

The Daily Arena (Main Duties)
  • Systems Design & Code Analysis: Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems and design new suppression, fire detection, alarm, and mass notification systems. Perform building and fire code analysis and interpretation.
  • Client & Project Management: Manage day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing technical skills and technology to meet expectations, applying project management skills to internal projects and external client needs.
  • Research & Quality Control: Perform research and document findings for internal and external distribution, and provide peer reviews of colleagues' work product.
  • Professional Engagement: Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA.
The Arsenal (Requirements & Qualifications)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure: Fire Protection Engineering License by examination issued by any state in the United States.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of working experience in the Fire Protection profession, including consulting engineering and project management.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills, with a proven ability to work on a high-functioning team.
  • Travel: Travel is required (estimated travel percentage: 20%).
Preferred Experience:
  • Direct design background in Sprinkler Systems, Suppression Systems, and Alarm & Mass Notification Systems.
  • Practical blend of hands‑on system design integrated with building and fire code analysis experience.

  • Compensation Package: $175,000–$185,000 base salary, paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate, a competitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance, and a 401(k) with maximum 5% contribution matching for a 9% employee contribution.
