A National engineering firm is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join its Austin office. This role offers the opportunity to take on a leadership position while helping to establish and grow a fire protection team within a collaborative and technically driven environment.
Position Overview
The Senior Fire Protection Engineer will lead the design and delivery of fire protection and life safety systems across a variety of project types. This individual will serve as a technical expert while also contributing to the growth and development of the fire protection discipline within the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of fire protection systems including fire alarm, sprinkler, and special hazard systems
- Perform and review hydraulic calculations, code analysis, and system layouts in compliance with NFPA, IBC, and local codes
- Manage projects from concept through construction administration including RFIs, submittals, and site coordination
- Serve as a technical resource for fire and life safety systems including smoke control and code compliance
- Coordinate with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers
- Contribute to business growth and support the expansion of fire protection services in the Austin market
- Play a key role in building and developing a fire protection team
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in fire protection engineering within a consulting environment
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required or ability to obtain in Texas
- Strong experience with fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety system design
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA codes, IBC, and local AHJ requirements
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related design tools
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Experience building or growing a fire protection team is required
- Base salary range: $160,000 – $190,000
