Qualifications

• Washington Professional Engineer license in Fire Protection required.
• Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering/technology or related field.
• Minimum of two years' experience reviewing building fire protection features.
• Experience with permit processing.
• Customer service experience; ability to handle difficult individuals tactfully and diplomatically.
• Maintain current, valid Washington state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve the most complex fire and life safety plans for Bellevue and partner jurisdictions.
• Conduct code and technical research to evaluate new technologies.
• Perform calculations to verify design adequacy.
• Advise supervisor on Fire and Building Code requirements.
• Educate customers on permit processes and fire protection requirements.
• Coordinate with city departments and staff to address fire concerns in reviews.
• Manage multiple projects to ensure timely reviews.
• Represent the department at meetings and conferences.
• May train and assist less experienced staff.
