Job summary

City of Bellevue's Bellevue Fire Department seeks an Assistant Fire Marshal to serve as the technical assistant to the fire marshal, interpreting and enforcing the city’s fire, building, and municipal codes. You will perform administrative, technical, and supervisory duties related to fire prevention, plan reviews, inspections, permits, and investigations.

The role requires supervising staff, guiding projects, providing performance feedback, and coordinating with building officials.

Qualifications

• Degree in fire protection engineering/technology or related field preferred.
• Four+ years in fire prevention, code enforcement, or investigation.
• Supervisory experience.
• WA PE license desired.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce fire, building, and municipal codes.
• Supervise plan reviews and inspections.
• Respond to inquiries and provide public education.
• Coordinate with city and other agencies on permits and occupancy approvals.
• Act as fire marshal in the absence of the fire marshal.
• Maintain records and prepare progress reports.
