Qualifications
- IAAI-CFI certification preferred
- NAFI-CFEI with ability to obtain IAAI-CFI within 18 months
- 5+ years of related work experience in fire investigation
- AAS in Fire Science, Fire Investigation, Forensic Science or related field
Responsibilities
- Determines the origin and cause of fires and explosions involving structures and equipment
- Secures the fire scene to preserve potential evidence
- Conducts on-site forensic fire analysis, documents findings, and testifies as needed
- Identifies and preserves evidence from fire scenes and maintains chain of custody
- Supports clients for subrogation and litigation with technical findings
- Performs code compliance research on electrical, gas, fire, building, and installation codes
- Gives continuing education seminars on fire-related topics
- Performs other duties as assigned
