Job summary

The City of Henderson seeks a seasoned Fire Marshal to provide administrative leadership for fire safety inspections and plan reviews within the Development Services Center. You will oversee building inspection services and supervise operations to ensure compliance with fire codes and departmental objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Fire Prevention, Architecture, Fire Protection Engineering or related field
• Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in the fire prevention function for a governmental agency, three (3) years at managerial or supervisory level
• Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or 'border state' driver's license
• Must possess one of the ICC certifications at appointment and obtain both ICC certifications within 6 months of appointment: Certified Fire Code Official or Certified Fire Marshal (CPSE Fire Marshal acceptable) and Certified Building Official
• Desirable certifications listed in minimum qualifications (inspector and related certifications)

Responsibilities

• Under general direction, provides administrative leadership in the management and coordination of fire safety inspections and fire safety plan review; assists in overseeing building inspection services; directs operational activities to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and departmental objectives; acts as city Fire Marshal and oversees building inspection services in the absence of the manager of inspection services.
• Performs related duties as required and ensures enforcement of fire code provisions for the City of Henderson.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science or related field

Valid Nevada or border state driver's license

ICC certifications: Certified Fire Code Official or Certified Fire Marshal or CPSE Fire Marshal certification
