Job summary

M.C. Dean in Washington, DC is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician with NICET II certification and U.S. citizenship eligibility to perform testing, inspection, and upgrades of fire alarm systems.

You will read blueprints, coordinate with account managers, and maintain reporting and materials. This on-site role requires the ability to obtain required clearances and contribute to safe, compliant life-safety systems.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain clearance.
• NICET Level II certified or must pass NICET II exam within 90 days of employment.
• 8+ years of relevant experience or 2-year technology degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect fire alarm systems per NFPA and local codes.
• Functionally test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and peripherals.
• Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting.
• Prepare inspection and service reports.
• Assist in mid-size FA system upgrades and installations.
• Assist pre-testing and final inspections for projects.
• Determine materials needed for repairs and order them.
• Develop relationships with building owners and managers.
• Respond to service requests, diagnose malfunctions, and repair equipment.
• Read blueprints and drawings.
• Maintain truck inventory.
• Respond to after-hours service calls as scheduled.
• Pursue and maintain industry certifications and grow technical and customer service skills with company support.
