Job summary

Siemens Mobility seeks a Senior Fire Alarm Systems Design Lead to craft cost-effective fire alarm solutions for data centers. You will select products, prepare submittals, and coordinate with sales and operations to ensure accurate estimates and efficient layouts.

You design floorplans, perform electrical calculations, and mentor the engineering team while upholding NFPA and local codes. Candidates should have NICET II and 5+ years in fire alarm design, with AutoCAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems
• Knowledge of fire alarm system components and NFPA 72
• Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams
• NICET II- Fire Alarm Systems certification and willingness to obtain NICET III within 1 year
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm systems for buildings including floorplan drawings, riser diagrams, wiring details, BOMs, and sequences of operations
• Prepare submittals, schedules, and orders for equipment and products
• Participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings to evaluate estimates and layouts
• Ensure designs meet project plans, specifications, and contract documents
• Provide QA, mentor the design team, and support start-up and commissioning activities

Sr. Fire Alarm Systems Design Leads

create unique design solutions to meet specific customer requirements for commercial building fire alarm systems. This candidate will focus on data centers. This team member makes recommendations for productivity improvements and cost reductions to increase customer satisfaction and job profitability.

As a Fire Alarm Systems Design Engineer, you will:

• Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution.
• Prepare submittals and schedules; handle the ordering of products and equipment.
• Participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings to evaluate accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout.
• Design fire alarm systems for buildings, including floorplan drawings for system device locations, riser diagrams, device wiring details, panel mounting and wiring details, bills of materials, and sequences of operations to meet the intent of the project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Provide general electrical calculations, including battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, conduit fills, power supply sizing, etc. and p repare engineering re-estimates and follow up with appropriate sales and management to ensure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope.
• Follow up with sales and management to ensure job scope, specifications, and schematics will meet customer needs and p rovide start-up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager for use in commissioning and validation.
• Perform quality assurance; peer-review engineering documents and m entor, train, and direct the design activities of the engineering team.

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED
• 5+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems
• Must be able to demonstrate :
• Knowledge of engineering fundamentals of fire systems or equivalent field experience with fire system controls
• Knowledge of the following fire alarm system components: fire alarm panels, strobe booster panels, spot detectors (smoke, heat, carbon monoxide), duct-mounted smoke detectors, projected beam smoke detectors, aspirating smoke detectors (VESDA), monitor modules, relay modules (form A and form C), manual pull stations, notification devices (speaker/strobes, horn/strobes, strobes, bells), Class A/Class B/Class X circuits, state and local fire codes, and NFPA 72 national fire code
• The ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams
• Knowledge of fire alarm system components
• NICET II- Fire Alarm Systems certification and ability and willingness to obtain NICET III within 1 years
• 5+ years of proficiency in AutoCAD and design; proficient in Microsoft Office
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor’sDegree
• Highly detailed oriented
• EIT, ASHRE, NICET III or IV - Fire Alarm Systems, or CISSP certifications

The pay range for this position is $59,048 - $101,225 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
