Job summary

HTS Tech is seeking a seasoned Senior Fire Alarm Project Manager / Fire Alarm Specialist to lead design, permitting, project management, programming coordination, inspection, testing, and commissioning of commercial and multifamily fire alarm systems across multiple states.

This management role ensures NFPA standards, state licensing, AHJ expectations, and customer specifications while supporting growth of our fire alarm division.

Qualifications

  • NICET Level IV preferred; Level III with potential to upgrade.
  • Ability to obtain multi-state licenses for fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with AHJ coordination and code compliance.
  • Licensure across multiple states including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Texas is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial and multifamily fire alarm projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review drawings for code compliance and coordinate with AHJs, engineers, owners, and GC.
  • Prepare RFIs, submittals, and permit documentation; oversee installation teams.
  • Coordinate programming, system integration, and commissioning activities.
  • Schedule inspections and acceptance testing; troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Maintain schedules and project documentation; mentor technicians and assist in growth of the fire alarm division.

Job description

Position Summary

HTS Tech is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Project Manager / Fire Alarm Specialist to lead the design, permitting, project management, programming coordination, inspection, testing, and commissioning of commercial and multifamily fire alarm systems across multiple states. This is a management role responsible for ensuring all fire alarm projects meet applicable NFPA standards, state licensing requirements, AHJ expectations, and customer specifications while supporting the continued growth of our fire alarm division.

Required Qualifications/Certifications
  • NICET Level IV – Fire Alarm Systems (Preferred)
  • NICET Level III – Fire Alarm Systems (Minimum Consideration) Ability to obtain Level IV
  • Ability to hold a Fire Alarm Contractor License in Multiple States
  • Manufacturer Certifications (One or More):

Licensing Experience

Ideal candidate will possess, qualify for, or have experience obtaining fire alarm licenses in multiple states, including but not limited to:

  • Minnesota
  • Kentucky
  • Tennessee
  • Florida
  • Texas

Experience serving as a company's Responsible Managing Employee (RME), Qualified Agent, or License Holder is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial and multifamily fire alarm projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review drawings and specifications for code compliance.
  • Coordinate with AHJs, engineers, owners, and general contractors.
  • Prepare RFIs, submittals, and permit documentation.
  • Oversee installation teams and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate programming and system integration.
  • Schedule inspections, acceptance testing, and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot complex fire alarm systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70, NFPA 72, IBC, IFC, and local codes.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Mentor technicians and assist in developing the fire alarm department.
  • Support estimating and business development efforts.
Preferred Experience
  • 12+ years of commercial fire alarm experience.
  • Experience with multifamily, healthcare, senior living, hospitality, education, and mixed-use developments.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • NFPA 72
  • NEC (NFPA 70)
  • International Building Code (IBC)
  • International Fire Code (IFC)
  • ADA requirements
  • Knowledge of smoke control, voice evacuation, mass notification, elevator recall, and sprinkler monitoring systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
