Job summary

Box is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for our FinOps-focused team to forecast and optimize cloud spend, including AI services. You will lead mid-to-senior engineers and data scientists, build scalable tools on GCP, and translate usage signals into actionable insights for executives.

You will drive cost governance, collaborate with Cloud Ops, SRE, and Finance, and coach senior ICs to maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience.
• Hands-on engineering background with Python, BigQuery and SQL.
• Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Proven track record forecasting and optimizing large cloud spend.
• Executive-ready communicator across engineering to executive levels.
• Background in FinOps, SRE, data engineering/science, or tooling for cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the forecast for Box’s cloud spend and SaaS/AI services.
• Lead an engineering-first FinOps team to build scalable tooling and models on GCP.
• Translate usage signals into clear, actionable insights for executives.
• Identify, prioritize, and drive optimization initiatives to protect outcomes.
• Establish dashboards and metrics that accelerate decision-making.
• Coach senior ICs; uphold code quality, rigor, and results.
• Coordinate with Cloud Ops, SRE, Data, and Finance on plans and ROI.
• Extend cost governance to SaaS platforms and explore AI applications where valuable.
