Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Senior FinOps Financial Analyst to lead cloud cost management, forecasting, and budgeting initiatives across the enterprise. You will build predictive models, develop dashboards, and collaborate with IS and Finance leaders to ensure disciplined cloud spending.

The role focuses on cost transparency, TCO analysis, and cost-control practices, while mentoring junior analysts and shaping financial operating plans for the hospital system in Central Massachusetts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Math, Data Science, Economics, or healthcare admin.
• MBA in Finance preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of directly relevant finance experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel modeling.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Experience with cloud cost management/FinOps and Azure Cost Management.
• Understanding of cloud usage metering and cost allocation.
• Familiarity with hospital or healthcare delivery systems preferred.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead FinOps forecasting activities with cloud usage modeling.
• Implement FinOps billing practices and chargeback reporting.
• Develop optimization strategies for cloud costs.
• Create dashboards for cloud cost transparency.
• Partner with IS, Finance, and ops leaders to drive cost accountability.
• Provide training on financial systems and reports.
• Assist with system QA, testing, and maintenance.
• Perform variance analysis and audits.
• Prepare and review scheduled and ad hoc financial reports.
• Identify forecasting assumptions and annual operating plans.
• Participate in budget committees and cost analyses.
• Mentor junior Financial Analysts.
• Manage external contracts and revenues as needed.
• Process DEFAs and coordinate payables.
• Ensure compliance with policies and foster respectful environment.
