Job summary

RSM US LLP seeks a Director/MD/Partner-level Financial Examiner to lead regulatory financial examinations for state insurance departments. The role focuses on client relationship management, proposal development, and high-quality examination delivery.

Remote work across the US is allowed with travel as needed. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of insurance-examination experience and advanced certification (CFE; CPA preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with preference in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 10+ years insurance experience with a State Insurance Department, insurance company, examination firm dealing with financial examinations, or with a public accounting firm as an internal or external auditor of insurance companies.
• Candidates must have completed or are actively pursuing the professional insurance designation of CFE; CPA preferred but not required.
• Flexibility for travel, when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-state risk-focused financial examinations in accordance with the Handbook.
• Develop relationships with and sell regulatory services to clients.
• Draft examination deliverables (e.g., Report on Examination) and exhibits.
• Review examining staff work papers and provide coaching and training.
• Serve as Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) on examinations of all sizes and complexities.
• Ensure compliance with insurance statutes and regulations and act as trusted advisor to regulators.
