Job summary

Monzo seeks a Senior Financial Control Analyst to join our Finance team in the UK. The role supports month-end close, governance of the general ledger, and reporting for the business and products in a growing banking environment.

You will drive improvements, implement AI-enabled processes, and work with auditors on year-end activities. Hybrid work options across London and Cardiff with a UK-wide distributed model are supported.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience in financial reporting/controlling.
• Experience in a retail banking environment is preferred.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and accuracy.
• Ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences.
• Interest in data-driven reporting; SQL skills are a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close and group consolidation with the finance team.
• Write insightful management commentary after understanding the business and products.
• Leverage accounting systems to minimize manual reporting elements.
• Drive process improvements and AI-enabled automation initiatives.
• Learn SQL to run reports and propose scalable solutions.
• Support year-end processes with external auditors and the Financial Reporting squad.
• Review new products for accounting impact and implement in systems.
• Assess accounting standard changes and propose policy updates.
• Maintain integrity of the chart of accounts and financial data.
• Assist with forecasting, valuations, transfers, and tax policy research.
