Job summary

Google is seeking a Play Business Controller to join the Business Controllership team supporting the Platforms and Ecosystems group. You will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and risk management for the Play product area, partnering with the Finance, business, product and Engineering teams to drive impact.

Ideal candidates possess a CPA/CA, strong GAAP (ASC 606) expertise, and extensive multinational accounting experience. English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
• 10 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
• Experience in GAAP, with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute month, quarter, and year-end close processes, journal entries, financial reporting, earnings, and external audit collaborations for the Play product area.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on business models, systems design, and contractual agreements (pre and post-sales) to ensure optimal agreement structures and operational workflows.
• Establish, assess, and maintain effective risk management and internal control frameworks to ensure compliance and mitigate business risks.
• Partner with Financial Planning and Analysis, Product, and Engineering to design, implement, and support scalable accounting systems, procedures, and ad-hoc requests.
• Lead Controllership initiatives, UATs, and automation programs to centralize, streamline, scale, and manage extended workforce accounting operations globally.
