Job summary

City of Houston seeks a Financial Analyst to support the Trusts and Funds Management section within the Financial Reporting & Operations Division. You will assist management in policy development, perform professional financial analysis, and help prepare reports for LGCs, CUs, and nonprofits.

Reporting to division management, the role involves data coordination, reconciling accounting information, and contributing to the development of administrative procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• Four years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related area; master's may substitute for two years.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB pronouncements preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and perform analytical reporting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development, implementation, and monitoring of financial activities for LGCs, CUs, and nonprofit agencies.
• Perform financial analyses and reconciliations including revenue/expense trends and debt capacity.
• Assist in daily administrative tasks related to trust funds and deferred compensation plans.
• Prepare reports and presentations using Microsoft Publisher and other tools.
• Reconcile accounting data and update administrative procedures as needed.
• Coordinate long-term and short-term special projects.
