Job description

Analyze the profitability of APD’s major product lines and programs. Focus on developing reports and analytics to support financial operations and special requests, including cost/benefit analysis, compensation analysis, budget/forecast projections, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives. Assist the Financial Reporting team with the monthly close process through maintaining operational and statistical reports, reconciling, and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Analysis — Support APD’s major product lines and programs, including identifying, analyzing, and reporting profitability and other trends to Management; and handling special requests.
  2. Financial Reporting Support — Develop and maintain reports for the Financial Reporting team, reconcile and analyze results. Oversee development and coordinate reconciliation related to the automated journal entry processing initiative.
  3. Financial Projections — Assist in the development and preparation of APD financial projections and plans, including those for potential acquisitions.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Regular contact with Senior Management, as well as personnel in Sales, Marketing, Compliance, Claims, Risk Management, and Product Management Departments.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, with a Master’s degree and/or CPA certification highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and SQL, including Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of financial/insurance experience necessary.
  • Power BI, SAP, and Workiva experience preferred.
  • AS400 query skills a plus.

Requirements:

  • Self-directed individual with good judgment in planning and organizing, and strong data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, GAAP, statutory accounting, and strong interpersonal skills are required.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $115,000 per year

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including location, skills, and experience. This range is part of the total compensation package, which may include additional incentives based on performance.
