Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to facilitate financial analysis, budgeting, and monthly reporting for a school/unit within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. You will oversee day-to-day financial tasks (A/P, journals, reconciliations), partner with OPRP on capital and O&M budgets (e.g., $150M capital, $165M O&M), and support forecasting and cost management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong background in construction project management, property budget oversight, higher education and non-profit management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis and financial modeling; working knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Experience with financial systems and data query tools.
  • Experience with general ledger and general accounting practices.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate diverse financial analysis for a school/unit and assist department management with financial planning, budget analysis and monthly reporting.
  • Review A/P, enter journals, reconcile expense charges, and conduct analysis on capital and operating budgets across FAS.
  • Support budget development, reporting, and forecasting for large capital and O&M budgets (e.g., $150M capital, $165M O&M).
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, enter journals and cost transfers, and assist building managers with budgeting and transactions.
