Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst (Contract) to join a lean accounting and finance team in California. The role blends FP&A and accounting responsibilities with a strong emphasis on financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis to drive business decisions.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in finance or accounting, 2+ years of FP&A or related experience, and solid NetSuite and Excel skills; experience with Power BI and Great Plains is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 2+ years of corporate FP&A, financial analysis, accounting, or public accounting experience.
• Strong NetSuite experience required.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and INDEX/MATCH.
• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience with Great Plains / Management Reporter is a plus.
• Healthcare or skilled nursing industry experience preferred.
• CPA, MBA, or FPAC designation is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a lean team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting activities and analyze actual results against forecasts.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, management reporting, and executive-level analysis.
• Build, customize, and automate reports, dashboards, and saved searches within NetSuite.
• Support the ongoing NetSuite ERP implementation and optimization, including reporting and workflow improvements.
• Provide department leaders with financial visibility, spend analysis, and actionable insights.
• Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial statement review.
• Support preparation of GAAP financial statements and internal financial reporting.
• Assist with annual audits, tax filings, surveys, and internal control requirements.
• Partner with the Controller and other accounting team members to improve financial and accounting processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and other finance-related projects.
