Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst / FP&A consultant in Irvine, CA. This 20-hour-per-week contract has a clear path to full-time, with weekly payroll and visibility into critical finance projects.

You will support the Finance team by building models, forecasting, and delivering insights across operating expenses and KPIs, with exposure to broader finance transformation as the company scales.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in financial analysis or FP&A.
• Advanced Excel skills for modeling and analysis.
• SQL experience to query databases and big datasets.
• Experience with NetSuite, Xero or Salesforce is a plus.
• Startup or high-growth environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and own monthly operating expense actuals at GL and cost centers.
• Build and maintain financial model, track actuals vs budget/forecast.
• Prepare monthly Budget vs Actual reports and explain variances.
• Query data warehouses/ERP (SQL, Snowflake) for automated reporting.
• Document repeatable financial processes as the company scales.
• Support monthly close, variance, trend analysis, and management reporting.
• Assist forecasting and quarterly planning activities.
• Track KPIs and provide insights on financial/operational performance.
• Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams on analyses.
• Respond to ad hoc financial questions from senior leadership.

This is an approximately 20-hour-per-week consulting engagement expected to last 4–6 months, with the expectation to convert to a full-time / direct hire position.

Job Details

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, manages priorities, and enjoys building financial processes from the ground up.

What You'll Be Doing

1. Review and own monthly operating expense actuals at the GL/account and cost center level
2. Build and maintain the company's financial model, incorporating actuals to track trends and spend against budget/forecast
3. Prepare and analyze monthly Budget vs. Actual reports, identify, quantify, and explain variances
4. Query large-scale data warehouse and ERP datasets (SQL, Snowflake) to build automated reporting and dashboards that surface trends beyond summary-level financials
5. Establish and document repeatable financial processes as the company scales
6. Support monthly close, variance analysis, trend analysis, and management reporting
7. Support recurring forecasting and quarterly planning activities
8. Track and analyze KPIs and provide meaningful insights into financial and operational performance
9. Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver analysis and recommendations that support decision-making
10. Respond to ad hoc financial questions and analytical requests from senior leadership

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis or FP&A
• Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas)
• SQL experience required — comfortable querying databases and mining large datasets
• Experience with NetSuite, Xero, or Salesforce a plus
• Excellent communication skills — able to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• Startup or high-growth company experience strongly preferred

Nice to Have

• Healthcare, life sciences, medical device, biotech, or pharma industry experience
• Experience building financial processes and reporting infrastructure from scratch
• Snowflake or similar data warehouse experiencece

Must be local to Irvine to be considered. No sponsorship provided

Location: Irvine, CA (hybrid 2-3 days on site)

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week

Engagement: Consulting / Contract with expectation to convert to full-time
