The role emphasizes independent analysis, variance review, and postmortem assessments to inform management decisions. Hybrid work location is Minneapolis, with four days in-office and one day remote.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of proven experience.
• Experience in a financial or analytical role.
• Ability to complete financial modeling and financial analysis tasks using spreadsheets and/or other tools.
• Experience applying accounting and financial concepts to interpret and solve business problems.

• Strong communication skills for presenting findings to management.
• Ability to complete advanced financial modeling tasks and analyses.

Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst role at Ameriprise Financial supports business performance through trend analysis, forecasting and planning models, and decision-support insights. The position acts as a subject matter expert for key data sources and independently builds analytical models to inform strategic choices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead routine reporting by driving variance analysis, providing business context, and supporting written commentary around business results.
• Perform independent analysis using multiple data sources to determine root causes and track the benefits of prior actions.
• Develop, improve, and run forecasting and planning models, including variance analysis.
• Independently build models ranging from simple to sophisticated to forecast the implications of business decisions.
• Conduct postmortem analysis to assess the impact of past business decisions.
• Review forecasts and analyses with management in a clear, structured manner.
• Review Cost Benefit Analyses (CBAs) and identify issues to resolve prior to approval.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a financial or quantitative field.
• 3 to 5 years of proven experience.
• Previous experience in a financial or analytical role.
• Ability to complete financial modeling and financial analysis tasks using spreadsheets and/or other tools.
• Experience applying accounting and financial concepts to interpret and solve business problems.
• Capacity to build decision-support outputs.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to verbally present findings to management.
• Ability to complete advanced financial modeling tasks and financial analysis using spreadsheets and/or other tools.
• Strong interpersonal and business skills to support CBA and new advisor offer processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• May have an MBA or other advanced degree or certification.
• Experience building relationships that influence and establish credibility across an organization, including business partners, senior finance leadership, and other finance areas.

Work Location and Schedule

Minneapolis, MN (hybrid). Employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home for one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation

• Estimated base salary: USD 71,300 to 98,100 per year.
• Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location.
• Most roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives, depending on the role.
