Job summary

Ameriprise Financial is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join the Insurance Risk team in Minneapolis. The role supports quarterly and ad-hoc risk reporting, validates models, and communicates insights to stakeholders.

You will modify and document actuarial models and assist with governance and controls within a defined scope. Required: a bachelor's degree in actuarial science or related field, 1–3 years of experience, and at least one actuarial exam passed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related disciplines.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• At least 1 Actuarial exam passed.
• Preferred: Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) coursework.
• Preferred: Actuarial internship experience.
• Preferred: Experience with MS Excel, VBA, MS Access, and other database applications.

Responsibilities

• Support quarterly and ad-hoc Insurance risk reporting and analysis, including preparation, validation, and communication of results and insights to key stakeholders.
• Provide technical analysis and support by modifying, maintaining, operating and documenting actuarial models based in spreadsheets or other analytical software.
• Assist in evaluating the impacts of model change requests by developing expertise in market sensitivities, Statutory and GAAP accounting, and actuarial modeling techniques.
• Participate in actuarial projects within a well-defined scope and responsibility, describing actuarial concepts to other business areas and testing results of project implementations.
• Support the operation and validation of business controls and model governance requirements; perform basic logical validation on inputs and outputs and collect evidence.

Job Description

Ameriprise Financial is looking to add an Actuarial Analyst to the Insurance Risk team! The individual in this role will perform actuarial tasks with manager assistance or supervision. Provide technical analysis and support by modifying, maintaining, operating and documenting various actuarial models. Prepare related reports, summarizing and communicating Insurance Risk model results.

Key Responsibilities

• Support quarterly and ad-hoc Insurance risk reporting and analysis, including preparation, validation, and communication of results and insights to key stakeholders.
• Provide technical analysis and support of a well-defined nature by modifying, maintaining, operating and documenting various actuarial models based in spreadsheets or other analytical software.
• Assist in evaluating the impacts of model change requests by developing expertise in market sensitivities, Statutory and GAAP accounting, and actuarial modeling techniques. Develop a foundational understanding of actuarial modeling, processes, and practices.
• Participate in actuarial projects within a well-defined scope and responsibility. Perform analysis on specific actuarial topics, describing actuarial concepts to other business areas, and/or testing results of project implementations. Communicate status and impediments to completing tasks.
• Support the operation and validation of business controls and model governance requirements. Perform basic logical validation on inputs and outputs, ensuring consistency of processes with original design. Collect evidence to validate effectiveness of processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related disciplines.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience
• At least 1 Actuarial exam passed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) coursework completion.
• Actuarial internship experience.
• Experience with MS Excel, VBA, MS Access, and other database applications.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $66,700- $91,700/ year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
