THE POSITION

Washington County Fleet Services Division is now hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team ! Fleet Services is a division within the Department of Facilities, Fleet, & Parks. Fleet Services is a full-service centralized fleet comprised of 750 vehicles and equipment with a staff of 20 to support the County's fleet of vehicles.

The Fleet Senior Financial Analyst performs complex, challenging financial, statistical, and budgetary analysis in support of the County's fleet management program within the Fleet Services Division. This position is responsible for budgeting, contracting, rate setting, database administration, and policy development. This position works closely with Fleet Administration staff and Fleet Operations staff, as well as staff from other County departments including Risk Management, Finance, and Purchasing.

The Fleet Senior Financial Analyst is eligible for working under a hybrid model after the first year of employment and subject to division needs.

The Ideal Candidate that the Facilities, Fleet & Parks Department is looking for is:

  • an experienced financial professional who understands the financial processes in government.
  • experienced in analyzing, interpreting, forecasting, and monitoring financial information.
  • an effective communicator, both orally and in writing, and is capable of conveying complex issues.
  • adept at establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups and is committed to contributing to an inclusive and safe workplace.
  • an effective collaborator in a team-centered environment, while also working effectively under general or limited direction.
  • a process improver, providing insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • well-versed in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Fixed Asset Accounting.
  • detail-oriented, organized, can manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and enjoys working in a team environment.
  • experienced in managing a database, developing processes within the database, and troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • a values driver worker, led by integrity and is willing to be dedicated to serving Washington County.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Master's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or a related field; AND two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience performing budgetary or financial analysis, or auditing, which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience spanning responsibilities in the defined principle duties of this position classification; OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or a related field; AND four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience performing budgetary or financial analysis, or auditing, which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience spanning responsibilities in the defined principle duties of this position classification; OR
  • An Associate's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or a related field; AND six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience performing budgetary or financial analysis, or auditing, which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience spanning responsibilities in the defined principle duties of this position classification; OR
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience performing budgetary or financial analysis, or auditing, of which at least four (4) years of this experience must be in the public sector and includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience spanning responsibilities in the defined principle duties of this position classification.

Selection Process

1 .Minimum Qualifications (MQ) Review: Human Resources will screen applications for MQs beginning the week after the posting closes. Additional preferred qualifications screening may be applied depending on the number of applications received. The timeframe to review will be the week of May 18, 2025.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) Review: Your responses may be evaluated and scored by a panel of subject matter experts. Your total score for this examination will affect your placement on the eligible list (a list of candidates eligible for interviews). This process will begin the week of May 25, 2025 and may take up to 2 weeks.
  • Panel Interviews: Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation step as soon as possible.
  • Conditional Offer: The top candidate will be required to successfully clear a third-party background check and driving check as a pre-employment condition.

Please note: candidates that are successful in the evaluation process may have their applications referred for additional vacancies in the same classification, or job family.
