Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Draper, UT is seeking a hybrid, full-time FP&A professional. You will lead quarterly forecasting, monthly variance analysis across membership, risk adjustment, and medical costs, and translate results into actionable insights for senior leadership.

You’ll partner with finance and operations to drive cost optimization, automate reporting, support executive presentations, and help manage SG&A initiatives and potential acquisitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 2+ years in financial analysis, FP&A, or related role.
• Analytical skills to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.

Overview

This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week. Our office is located at 12921 S Vista Station Blvd, Draper, UT 84020. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday. The schedule includes 8-hour shifts during our normal business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm MST. Occasional overtime may be necessary.

We offer on-the-job training with hours aligned to your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities

• Financial Planning, Forecasting, and Performance Analysis
  • Quarterly forecasting and monthly variance analysis across key business drivers, including membership, risk adjustment, and medical costs
  • Develop financial bridges and executive-level insights to explain performance vs. plan and prior periods
  • Partner with finance and operational leadership to identify risks, opportunities, and key business trends
• Executive Communication and Business Partnership
  • Translate complex financial results into clear, concise insights for senior leadership
  • Support preparation of executive presentations, commentary, and business reviews
  • Influence decision-making through data-driven storytelling and financial guidance
• Process Improvement and Automation
  • Develop and enhance financial models, reporting tools, and workflows to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Leverage advanced Excel and data tools to manage large datasets and streamline reporting processes
• Provider Compensation and Incentive Calculations
  • Perform quarterly calculations of provider productivity and quality initiatives that adjust their compensation
  • Develop reporting outputs for operations, senior management, and providers; serve as a key contact to explain results and address questions
• SG&A Management
  • Manage the reporting and analysis of SG&A month-end close
  • Research and understand business operations to identify cost optimization initiatives
  • Lead, track, and follow up with Sr. leaders on SG&A efficiency initiatives
  • Oversee the improvement of SG&A management reporting on a detailed and segmented basis to ensure cost tracking and containment with Sr. leaders
  • Partner with operational Sr. leaders to assist in setting statistical metrics to enhance awareness of operational performance and decisions around FTE management
• Acquisition Analysis and Presentation
  • Support financial/qualitative analysis on potential acquisitions of provider groups and network deals
• Strategic and Ad Hoc Analysis
  • Creation and management of ad hoc requests and reporting from Sr. Management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or related role
• Analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis

• Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) Monday – Friday with flexibility for 8-hour shifts during standard business hours; overtime may be necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA license or MBA Degree
• Hyperion Essbase, database, and PeopleSoft experience
• Experience preparing executive-level financial presentations and commentary
• Experience in healthcare
• Ability to create a positive team-based work environment

• Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
• Dedicated workspace providing information privacy
• Must reside where a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection is available or have existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (eligibility applies). Salary range for this role is $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
