Position Description

The senior analyst will be an integral member of the investment team and involved in all aspects of the investment process from opportunity origination, financial modeling, due diligence, deal execution and ongoing portfolio company management.Rock Gate Partners is a Chicago-based private investment firm focused on growing, lower middle market companies exhibiting customer mind share leadership in niche markets.

We target and invest in companies that earn $3 - $12 million in sustainable EBITDA with margins in excess of 10%. This typically results in control transactions in the $20 - 100 million enterprise value range. We are operationally focused and actively assist portfolio company management.

Position Description

The senior analyst will be an integral member of the investment team and involved in all aspects of the investment process from opportunity origination, financial modeling, due diligence, deal execution and ongoing portfolio company management.

Responsibilities

• Leveraged acquisition models with detailed projections, capital structures and equity waterfalls
• Quantitative and qualitative investment due diligence analysis
• Preparation of investment memorandums, presentations and portfolio reports
• Special projects and other activities that support the firm’s operations

Requisite Skills, Experience and Characteristics

• 2 – 3 years of accounting, due diligence, investment banking, private equity, valuation or commercial banking experience
• Highly proficient in Excel with exceptional financial modeling skills
• Strong working knowledge of accounting and finance principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced and demonstrated Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word proficiency
• Highly personable with positive attitude and high energy
• Disciplined time management and organizational skills
• Driven, self-starter with ability to work independently or collaborate with team members
• Record of high-achievement, superior maturity and integrity

Location

• Rock Gate is headquartered in Chicago with professionals based in Chicago, IL, Glencoe, IL, Greenwich, CT and Mumbai, India, as such, the vast majority of work is performed virtually

Educational Requirements

• Strong academic performance
• CPA and/or CFA a plus
