Job summary

New Jersey Community Capital, a nonprofit CDFI, seeks a Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting for NJCC and affiliated entities. This senior role owns the monthly close, internal controls, and lender/investor reporting, partnering with the CFO on strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including supervisory roles.
• Nonprofit, CDFI or financial institution experience preferred with strong GAAP/nonprofit knowledge (ASC 958).
• Experience with loan portfolio accounting, CECL, and lender/investor reporting.
• Experience with federal grants compliance (Uniform Guidance) and NMTC/LIHTC accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close and owner of the intercompany reconciliations.
• Oversee annual financial statement audits and Single Audit readiness; coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage real estate portfolio accounting, capitalization, depreciation, and project-level cost reporting.
• Oversee tax filings, funder reporting, and annual CDFI Fund certification.
• Develop and monitor internal controls; partner with CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and liquidity.
