Job summary

Quantum is seeking a Senior Filesystem Engineer to join the StorNext engineering team in Centennial, CO. You will design, debug, and maintain core StorNext filesystem components, focusing on enterprise filesystem internals, kernel-level development, and large-scale storage management.

The ideal candidate has deep systems programming experience, strong judgment, and can drive complex work from investigation to delivery while collaborating with engineering, QA, support, and product stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional filesystem software development in C/C++.
• Strong scripting experience with Python, Perl, Bash, or similar tools.
• Proficiency with git or comparable version control systems.
• Strong Linux development experience; Windows development or cross-platform a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical problems and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Experience debugging complex systems-level issues using tracing, logging, profiling, crash analysis, or diagnostic tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across teams.

• Design, enhance, and maintain StorNext Filesystem components (cvfs kernel-resident module, user-level filesystem manager, utilities, quotas, tiering, configuration/tools, and debugging/collection utilities).
• Lead investigation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and resolution of defects across StorNext with engineering, QA, support, and field teams.
• Drive code reviews, design discussions, validation planning, and technical decisions to improve reliability and performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers while promoting engineering best practices.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Filesystem Engineer to join the StorNext engineering team. In this role, you will design, enhance, debug, and maintain core components of the StorNext software suite, with emphasis on enterprise filesystem internals, kernel-level development, and large-scale storage management. The ideal candidate brings strong systems programming experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to drive complex engineering work from investigation through delivery while collaborating closely with engineering, QA, support, and product stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, enhance, and maintain StorNext Filesystem (SNFS) components, including the cvfs kernel-resident filesystem module, user-level filesystem manager, filesystem utilities, quota and tiering subsystems, configuration tools, management tools, and debugging/collection utilities.
• Lead investigation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex software defects across the StorNext suite in collaboration with engineering, QA, support, and field teams.
• Drive code reviews, design discussions, validation planning, and technical decisions that improve product reliability, maintainability, performance, and serviceability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers while helping establish engineering best practices for systems-level development.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional filesystems software development experience using C and/or C++.
• Strong scripting experience with Python, Perl, bash, or similar tools for automation, diagnostics, and development workflows.
• Proficiency with git or comparable version control systems in a collaborative software development environment.
• Strong Linux development experience; Windows development or cross-platform experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical problems, make sound engineering tradeoffs, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Experience debugging complex systems-level issues using appropriate tracing, logging, profiling, crash analysis, or diagnostic tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly across engineering, QA, support, product, and customer-facing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with kernel-level programming, filesystem internals, storage protocols, or distributed storage systems.
• Strong systems administration, networking, performance analysis, or storage troubleshooting experience.
• Experience developing or supporting enterprise filesystems, databases, storage platforms, or other high-reliability infrastructure software.
• Experience with JIRA or similar tools for issue tracking, release coordination, defect triage, and engineering workflow management.
