Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States seeks a field-service lead to guide technical crews through transformer installation and maintenance. You will perform electrical testing, manage project workflows, and serve as the primary customer liaison during critical field operations.

With up to 85% travel, you will build partnerships, mentor junior technicians, ensure safety, and collaborate with engineering to deliver reliable power infrastructure and grid modernization projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year technical diploma required; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years transformer service experience; or 12 years with HS diploma.
• 3+ years supervising transformer service teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical crews of 2-8+ specialists through complex transformer installation and maintenance projects.
• Execute comprehensive electrical testing including power factor analysis, winding resistance, and SFRA diagnostics.
• Serve as primary customer liaison and technical advisor during critical field operations.
• Optimize project workflows by strategically assigning tasks based on team strengths and site conditions.
• Manage high-voltage equipment ranging from distribution transformers to transmission-level apparatus.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on mission-critical power infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and implement innovative solutions.
• Mentor junior technicians while promoting continuous safety excellence across all operations.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
