Job summary

GCI Communication Corp seeks a Construction & Implementation Technician III to join a field-based team responsible for developing, constructing, delivering, and deploying network infrastructure across Alaska. The role supports engineering and project management offices to maintain network integrity within plant systems, architecture, and facilities.

This advanced position requires strong telecom construction experience, reading maps, coordinating resources, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Eight years in telecommunications with at least three years in complex network experience.
• NCTI System Technician certification or enrolled within 90 days.
• Ability to travel statewide and drive a vehicle; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced OSP network construction, implementation, and turn-up for video, voice, and data services.
• Install and test central office equipment, racks, cabling, and related infrastructure.
• Read and interpret maps, drawings, and work orders; ensure documentation is updated.
• Mentor junior technicians and coordinate with engineering, operations, and field staff.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA guidelines while delivering field projects.
