Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a certified CMT Senior Field Technician I to join our Jacksonville team. You will perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and related materials, with guidance from senior staff.

You will communicate with contractors, technicians, and project managers, maintain field reports, and assist in project execution. This role requires safety consciousness and ability to lift up to 85 lbs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Maintain basic certifications and two advanced certifications applicable to field testing as per policy.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specs.
  • Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly up to ~85 lbs.
  • A valid driver's license is required when driving for ECS.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and data systems is required.
  • Strong math and data reduction skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, and related materials.
  • Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
  • Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
  • Prepares accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results.
  • Performs calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks.
  • Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials.
  • Assists in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution.
  • Trains and mentors Technician I and Technician II staff in field procedures and documentation.
  • Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
  • Performs other field and project support duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED
Two advanced certifications applicable to field testing
Two years of related experience
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
Ability to lift up to 85 lbs
Valid driver's license
Advanced proficiency with electronic devices and data systems
Strong math and data reduction skills

Required Qualifications
  • 2 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Maintain basic certifications and two advanced certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
    • General industry OSHA 10 may be required
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Advanced knowledge of construction materials testing principles and standards
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations
  • Advanced proficiency with electronic devices and data systems
  • Strong math and data reduction skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and lead small efforts in the field
  • Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs)
  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies
