Job summary

SAIC seeks a Senior Field Software Test Engineer to lead acceptance, integration, and regression testing for national security projects at our Upper Marlboro, MD facility and other CONUS sites.

You will configure, deploy, and test applications and microservices on on-prem and cloud platforms, develop test plans, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure software readiness for changing client requirements.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in CS, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years' experience with software testing in field or lab.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Field Software Test Engineer with strong experience performing software acceptance, integration, and regression testing, as well as configuration management. The candidate will take a key role in expanding the scale and accelerate the pace of our research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) supporting national security client projects at our facility in Upper Marlboro, MD and at other locations within the continental US. This role offers the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, data scientists, and AI scientists and contribute to innovative technology development and experimentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with software engineering teams to configure, deploy, and test applications and microservices on on-premises infrastructure and on cloud platforms.
• Develop and maintain configuration documentation and software test plans.
• Perform and document tests of APIs and microservices, including containerized services, communicate issues to development teams, and follow up to ensure resolution.
• Coordinate testing activities with ongoing IDSL projects and priorities set up by program and technical leadership.
• Contribution to maintenance of software testing environments.
• Facilitate seamless code promotion into production by communicating issues identified by testing and verifying resolution.
• Support cross‑functional teams by ensuring that our software products are tested and ready to meet changing research needs and client requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with 5+ years of experience or Master of Science (MS) with 3+ years of experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teams across locations.

Technical Requirements

• Strong experience testing and configuring software on premises and at field locations sites.
• Strong experience with at least one programming language (e.g., GO).
• Experience testing both front end and back end software products.
• Experience testing APIs using tools like Postman.
• Experience testing IoT and USB device integrations.
• Experience with performance and load testing using tools like Gatling.
• Experience with test automation suites such as Seleneum.
• Experience with agile software development and tools such as Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or similar.
• Understanding with event‑driven systems or distributed architectures.
• Understanding of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with identity management principles and tools such as Active Directory.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps best-practices.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
