ABB is seeking a Field Service Engineer to execute medium to high complexity service work remotely within the United States. You will lead outages, perform startups and commissioning, and work with customers to improve system performance and reliability.

You will travel up to 75% domestically, support field activities, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with ABB safety policies. This role reports to the Field Service Manager and contributes to ABB's Power Delivery solutions.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of relevant field experience.
• Technical testing and commissioning of LV/MV power distribution equipment.
• Willing to travel up to 75% within the US.

This position reports to:

Field Service Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance.

The work model for the role is remote {#LI-Remote}

This role is contributing to the Electrification Service division in the Vancouver WA area.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Provide knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at all times.
• Responsible for hands‑on execution of projects including Startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment in respective area; Power Delivery includes transformers, switchgear, OCBs, Circuit Breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, Relays, Power Management Controls systems and other Power related equipment & controls.
• Leading outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors including project management, lead site engineer or site project manager. Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet, and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.
• Planning, organizing, and performing multifunctional field assignments in designated areas of expertise, directing the work of other field engineers and craft labor as required, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Developing and further expanding technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability.
• Planning, preparing, and/or instructing both internal and external training programs as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialization.
• Performing administrative functions in a timely manner that are associated with your work; such as writing technical reports, ordering necessary materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, expense tracking sheets, and cost control activities. Such tasks must be completed on a timely, and thorough basis.

Qualifications for the role:

• High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years relevant experience
• Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays and Transformers. Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin relays, and Schweitzer Relays)
• Experience in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems and Programmable Logic controllers a plus
• Up to 75% domestic travel
• Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area

Time Off

ABB provides 11 paid holidays. Vacation is provided based on years of service for hourly and non-exempt positions. Salaried exempt positions are provided vacation under a permissive time away policy.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $79,800 and $127,680 annually.
