Senior Field Service Technician AV systems

We are searching for a highly capable and driven Field Service Technician to provide expert support for Audio Visual (AV) systems, security cameras (CCTV), and access control hardware. Your primary focus will be traveling to various client locations to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support across enterprise, educational, and commercial settings. Core Responsibilities
- Resolve issues with audio DSPs, amplifiers, speakers, video displays, projectors, touch panels, and video conferencing hardware to ensure optimal performance.
- Swap out or reconfigure faulty components while coordinating with manufacturer support teams.
- Execute firmware updates and adjust system configurations as needed.
- Conduct routine maintenance and comprehensive system health checks to help prevent future downtime.
- Analyze blueprints, signal flow diagrams, and schematics to support network, video, audio, and control infrastructure.
- Apply knowledge of IP networking, including DHCP, static addressing, VLANs, and IP conflict resolution.
- Manage video-over-IP requirements such as IGMP snooping, jumbo frames, and QoS.
- Calculate PoE power budgets and classes to ensure reliable device operation.
- Support HDMI and HDBaseT video systems by managing EDID and HDCP requirements.
- Utilize knowledge of SDI, USB, and balanced/unbalanced audio signals to maintain system integrity.
- Perform necessary programming adjustments for platforms like Q-SYS or Crestron.
- Repair and re-terminate Cat 6, BNC, speaker wire, and euroblock connectors to improve signal reliability.
- Validate cabling and endpoints to ensure consistent connectivity.
- Maintain rack organization and clear labeling to assist future maintenance.
- Document and report any substandard installation practices to help improve overall site quality.
- Support project-based tasks, including the installation of AV racks, displays, control systems, and security hardware.
- Leverage experience with security cameras or access control systems to assist in site security operations.
Problem-Solving & Communication
- Translate complex technical issues into clear, understandable language for clients and end users.
- Maintain detailed service records and time logs to help improve project transparency.
- Identify the root cause of technical failures rather than just addressing surface-level symptoms.
- Determine if the fault lies within hardware, programming, network configurations, or user error.
- Escalate issues to engineering support teams when advanced intervention is required.
- Manage a high volume of daily service calls to ensure timely resolution for all clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess 3–5+ years of field experience in low-voltage or AV systems within commercial settings.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, with technical training considered a plus.
- Maintain a BA/BS degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent industry experience.
- Hold preferred manufacturer certifications such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, or Biamp.
- Obtain AVIXA CTS certification to demonstrate professional industry standards.
- Achieve QSC Q-SYS Level 0 and Level 1 certification.
- Complete Dante Level 1 and 2 training.
- Earn Crestron Commercial Technician or CTI-P101 Foundations of Crestron Programming credentials.
- Acquire additional formal training from manufacturers like Shure, Yealink, LTS, Comba, Leviton, or Legrand.
- Demonstrate an independent, self-directed work ethic.

- Lift heavy equipment up to 70 pounds, including 50 pounds overhead.

- Operate comfortably in both active construction sites and professional office environments.
- Commit to a full-time work schedule.
- Obtain OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification for enhanced safety awareness.
