Job summary

Herin Family Rentals LLC seeks a Field Mechanic / Level 3 to serve as the senior diagnostic and field-service technician for our rental fleet. You will independently resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drive-system issues in shop and at customer locations, supporting a dirt-heavy fleet with aerial and material-handling equipment.

You will mentor levels 1 and 2, oversee field-service calls, and participate in ongoing safety and technical trainings to uphold service excellence.

Qualifications

Five or more years of verifiable heavy-equipment or rental-equipment experience with independent field diagnosis.
Documented manufacturer, dealer, or technical-school training relevant to equipment.
Advanced ability to interpret wiring diagrams and diagnostic data.
Strong customer communication, documentation, time-management, and independent decision-making.
Valid driver license with clean record; TWIC if required.
Ability to operate a field-service vehicle and maintain inventory and tools.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced diagnosis and repair of skid steers, CTLs, mini excavators, telehandlers, aerial lifts in shop and field.
Diagnose diesel engines, aftertreatment, hydraulics, CAN-bus, and electrical issues.
Use diagnostic software, wiring diagrams, fault histories, and live data for troubleshooting.
Verify aerial equipment safety systems and interlocks.
Manage field-service calls, installations, breakdowns, repairs, and testing.
Determine onsite repair viability vs. transport to shop.
Communicate findings professionally to customers.
Create clear work orders documenting problem, diagnostics, parts, labor, and verification.
Mentor Level 1-2 techs and reinforce diagnostic practices.
Participate in manufacturer and safety trainings.
